Project Manager (09170)
We are currently seeking a talented, recognized, and motivated individual to direct the design of and manage major transportation projects in Minnesota. This position is responsible for project management, analysis, and design of freeway, expressway, highway, roadway, and street projects, including: corridor studies; right-of-way layout; drainage and utility systems; preliminary and final design; preparation of construction documents; cost estimates; project scheduling; and overall project management.
This position requires:
• Project management experience and working knowledge of Mn/DOT, CSAH, and MSAS projects and agencies with emphasis on location and design development, final design, bidding, and letting procedures.
• Must be able to work effectively and communicate regularly with federal, state, county, and municipal clients and agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to utilize community outreach to build relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to market Mn/DOT, county, and municipal agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to make presentations at public information meetings, City Councils, and technical conferences.
• Experience with a transportation agency or consulting engineering firm and a proven track record of successful transportation project development and design is required.
This position offers exciting challenges and opportunities for managing all activities related to project scope, schedule, cost, quality, communications, and resources; mentoring young staff engineers; assisting in transportation market business development; and participating in professional organizations and technical committees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Evaluate client needs and identify requirements.
• Prepare reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental studies, and designs for projects.
• Evaluate need for design changes and make appropriate recommendations.
• Serve as technical liaison with clients on project efforts and coordinate technical efforts within discipline areas.
• Assist in the development of marketing strategies for proposed transportation projects.
• Consult with construction personnel concerning design constructability as related to field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling of construction activities.
• Participate in project scoping, fee estimating, proposal preparation, interviews, and negotiations to the extent required.
• Review assigned project(s) after award to define project scope, determine work procedures/sequences, and develop schedules, budgets, staffing, subconsultant involvement, and progress billing points.
• Form project teams and see that responsibilities are assigned and the execution of tasks are begun and completed according to schedule.
• Submit documents to federal, state, and local agencies for code compliance review and obtain required permits.
• Meet with client management as necessary during the term of a project to resolve issues and to obtain approvals.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university with a major emphasis on transportation/highway design, or a degree in transportation engineering
• Minimum of 10 years experience; 5 years at the PM level with significant and current highway/roadway/street projects on the Mn/DOT, CSAH, and/or MSAS systems in Minnesota.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota.
• Familiarity with AASHTO and Mn/DOT design methods, standards, and specifications.
• Demonstrated capabilities and success in managing medium to large projects, multi-office projects, and/or multiple projects.
• Proven leadership, communication, mentoring, and client liaison skills
• Working knowledge of design software used to prepare engineering and design documents would be a plus.
• The ability to demonstrate a knowledge of and good working relationship with Mn/DOT personnel, especially those involved in design and in the Division of State Aid is also highly desirable.
This position reports directly to the Minnesota Regional Manager – Infrastructure.
Requires: BS-Civil or Transportation Engineering, Minnesota PE, and 10-15 years experience.

Senior Structural Engineer/Bridge (10021)

This position is responsible for project management, analysis, and design of interchange, grade separation, and waterway bridge projects, including: alternatives analysis, preliminary design, final design; preparation of construction documents; cost estimates; project scheduling; and overall project management. This position requires:
• Project management experience and working knowledge of Mn/DOT, CSAH, and MSAS projects and agencies with emphasis on design and project management.
• Must be able to work effectively and communicate regularly with federal, state, county, and municipal clients and agencies.

BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university with a major emphasis on structural design, or a degree in structural engineering
• Minimum of 10 years experience; 5 years at the PM level with significant and current bridge projects on the Mn/DOT, CSAH, and/or MSAS systems in Minnesota.
• Experience with superstructure types to include structural steel and pre-stressed concrete (both pre-tensioned/pre-cast and cast-in-place/post-tensioned).
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota.
• Familiarity with Load Rating Factor Design, AASHTO, and Mn/DOT design methods, standards, and specifications.
• Demonstrated capabilities and success in managing projects.
• Proven leadership, communication, mentoring, and client liaison skills
• Working knowledge of design software used to prepare engineering and design documents would be a plus.
• The ability to demonstrate a knowledge of and good working relationship with Mn/DOT personnel, especially those involved in bridge design and in the Division of State Aid.
